Salman Khan sat down with a group of journalists via Zoom call ahead of the release of Radhe-Your Most Wanted Bhai to discuss his upcoming release. He spoke about the difficult times we're in and how he thinks a film like Radhe-Your Most Wanted Bhai would provide some temporary relief and entertainment. The film is released at a time when most filmmakers have agreed to postpone their releases due to the country's theatre closures. Radhe, on the other hand, will be released simultaneously in theatres and on streaming platforms.
“The box office collection of Radhe will be zero,” Salman Khan said when asked about the film's financial success. This will be the lowest-grossing Salman Khan movie ever. Allow people to be happy or sad about it. In India, it is being released in a small number of theatres, and the number of theatres in other countries is also smaller than average. As a result, the box office take will be very low.”
At the start of the year, Salman Khan revealed that the film would be released in theatres for Eid. After the theatre owners demanded that he only release the film in theatres, he made the announcement to help improve the business of cinema halls. Salman Khan has apologised to theatre owners for the hybrid release. “I apologise to all the theatre owners for the fact that we are showing the film now because it is the right thing to do. The plan was to release this film as soon as the pandemic was over, but that does not seem to be the case.
So, as you might recall, a few months ago, there was a proposal on social media to release Radhe in theatres on Eid, and we agreed. Since they expected that by putting Radhe in theatres, the audiences would return and the theatres would reopen, but this did not happen. This film will now be released on OTT and in approximately 20-25 theatres around the world. And, once the theatres open, we'll do a theatrical release in India as well, because there are still people who want to see it in theatres and those who don't want to watch it on OTT. It is being released in other countries.
Salman Khan also said that he does not want people to contract the virus as a result of seeing his movie. “I understand how sad people are that they won't be able to see Radhe on the big screen. Some people have reserved auditoriums to screen my film, which I will not support because I don't want people to say things like, "Salman Khan ki picture dekhne gaye aur corona phail gaya." If people like the film, we'll try to release it on the big screen once the pandemic is over and theatres reopen,” he said.
