Malayalam film actor Manju Warrier has lodged a complaint against director VA Shrikumar Menon, who directed the film Odiyan with Kerala DGP Loknath Behera.
In her claim, Manju stated that by conducting social media harassment activities and intimidating her family, Shrikumar Menon sought to defame her.
Manju visited the office of the DGP in Thiruvananthapuram directly and handed over her handwritten petition, according to sources. Manju also claimed in her report that Shrikumar Menon was misusing letter pads in the name of' Manju Warrier Foundation' and she had signed blank checks, supposedly to siphon off her savings. In aid of her claim, the actress has allegedly provided digital evidence.
Manju has been collaborating closely with Shrikumar Menon and Push Integrated Communications, his advertising agency. He had directed her for Kalyan Jewellers in several advertising campaigns, and they had also worked together in Odiyan's film. Push Unified Communications also oversaw her foundation's operations, according to the lawsuit.
Manju also listed journalist Mathew Samuel's name in her statement. Mathew Samuel, a former Tehelka magazine managing editor, later became the publisher of the Naradanews online website. Manju claimed that using the journalist, Shrikumar Menon planted stories against her.
"I was exposed to a cyber attack on social media following Odiyan's launch. After resolving this, Menon causes trouble for me again. I'm afraid he could hurt me," sources quoted Manju's statement.
Since Shrikumar Menon's movie, Odiyan, launched in December 2018, Manju was the target of an orchestrated social media troll project.
On December 14, 2018, Odiyan opened for a worldwide release. It was the feature film debut of Shrikumar Menon and enjoyed huge promotions before it was released. When the film did not receive raving reviews, however, Shrikumar had placed Manju's blame squarely for the failure of the film at the box office. He said she didn't have a demand, and because of ' her luck from a previous life ' she landed the role.
Shrikumar alleged that the sabotaging of the film was Manju's former husband Dileep, an accused in the case of actor assault in 2017. The manager said that Dileep had conspired and mentioned this in several interviews at the box office to tank Odiyan.
In the meantime, he even brought the actress to Facebook to berate and claimed that after using his support, she had tossed him under the bus. "You beat me, who stood by you in the face of all kinds of threats, respectful as well as serious," he added.
He also asserted in his post to have rescued the life and future of Manju by helping her out financially by giving ad movies to the actress and bringing her back to the industry.
"When you left your house, you were worried about your bank account having just Rs 1500. I remember you saying that god had sent an angel in the form of Shrikumar Menon to help me when I handed over a check in Coimbatore for RS 25 lakh as advance for your first ad movie with me. You forgot that, "he added in his article.
He also questioned the actor why his association with Mathew Samuel, which Manju also listed in her report, caused the actor unhappy. It should be remembered that after Odiyan failed to impress, Shrikumar had made similar claims regarding reviving Manju's career.
