Malcolm Spellman, the showrunner of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, teases that there are several unannounced Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Now that Marvel Studios' second Disney+ show has concluded, the MCU fanbase is looking forward to what's next. There are eight films with announced release dates through 2022, as well as a slew of other films and Disney+ shows in the works. Many MCU campaigns have been set up as a result of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, as fans feel they have a general understanding of what will happen next.

Although Phase 4 is already ongoing, the MCU has yet to release a single film since Spider-Man: Far From Home acted as the Infinity Saga's epilogue in 2019. Black Widow and Spider-Man: No Way Home, both slated for release in 2021, are generating a lot of buzzes. Meanwhile, excitement is building for the MCU's 2022 films, such as Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther 2. Despite Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige's confirmation that Blade, Fantastic 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and other films are in the pipeline, it appears that many other films are being kept under wraps.

Following the conclusion of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Spellman talked with Murphy's Multiverse about the show and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During the interview, Spellman said that fans have no idea what Marvel is planning. He teases that there are several unannounced Marvel films in the works that will reshape aspirations for the MCU's future. Here's what Spellman has to say:

"I was surprised about how few of the upcoming Marvel movies have been announced... Fans will start to become more and more clear as these projects get announced."

Spellman's tease for several unannounced Marvel films follows news that he's working on Captain America 4 for Marvel Studios. He hasn't checked whether or not these rumours are accurate, and Anthony Mackie hasn't heard anything either. Since this may be another sign of Marvel's confidentiality at work, the announcement of Captain America 4 served as a fun reminder of how far ahead Marvel still prepares. They have enough films in production to keep them busy until 2023, and that doesn't include the unannounced projects Spellman is hinting at.

At the moment, it's just conjecture as to what ideas Marvel Studios may be secretly working on. Because of Baron Zemo's appearance in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Spellman may be privy to information about the making of a Thunderbolts film. Meanwhile, long-rumoured films such as Nova or Young Avengers, as well as future X-Men ventures, are only a few examples of what Marvel might be focusing on behind the scenes. With Marvel Studios' 2022 film slate expected to be completed by the middle of this year, it won't be long before they reveal what else they're working on.
